The ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2016 will be held in Budapest, Hungary, on April 8 and 9. Hungary hosts the Championships for the second time (Budapest 2008).
Meagan Duhamel/Eric Radford of Canada came from second place in the Short Program to strike the Pairs gold. China’s Wenjing Sui/Cong Han earned the silver medal and Aljona Savchenko/ Bruno Massot of Germany captured the bronze medal in their debut as a team at the World Championships.
Russia’s Evgenia Medvedeva skated off with the Ladies gold medal. Ashley Wagner (USA) pulled up from fourth to claim the silver medal and Anna Pogorilaya of Russia earned the bronze.
Wenjing Sui/Cong Han of China claimed the Pairs Short Program. Canada’s Meagan Duhamel/Eric Radford came second and Russians Tatiana Volosozhar/Maxim Trankov are currently ranked third.
Competition day three at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2016 concluded Friday in Boston, USA with the Men’s Free Skating.
Gracie Gold (USA) won the Ladies Short Program. Russia’s Anna Pogorilaya and Evgenia Medvedeva follow in second and third place.

Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron of France danced to the lead as the competition opened with the Short Dance. Maia Shibutani/Alex Shibutani (USA) came second followed by teammates Madison Chock/Evan Bates.
Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu skated to a strong lead in the Men’s Short Program. Javier Fernandez of Spain came second and Canada’s Patrick Chan is currently sitting in third place.

The ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2016 will open in Debrecen, Hungary, on March 16. Hungary has hosted the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships twice before, in 1995 and 1991, both in times in Budapest. 177 skaters from 44 ISU members have been entered for the Championships. Following a decision of the ISU congress in summer 2012, no preliminary rounds are skated, but participants need to have achieved a total element minimum score for both Short and Free Program. All skaters compete in the Short Program/Short Dance and the top 24 single skaters, top 16 Pairs and top 20 Ice Dance teams proceed to the Free Skating/Free Dance.
