Heather Richardson (USA) and Jorrit Bergsma (NED) took gold on the first day of World Cup competition in 2015. The ladies competed in the 1500m, the men in the 5000m at the Vikingship rink in Hamar, Norway. On Sunday the men will race the 1500m and the ladies the 3000m.
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva skated to the gold and led a Russian sweep in the Ladies event. Elena Radionova took the silver medal and Anna Pogorilaya claimed the bronze.

The 2015 ISU European Figure Skating Championships will open in Stockholm, Sweden, on January 28. The ISU European Figure Skating Championships return to Stockholm for the second time in history after 1912.
Elise Christie (GBR) was crowned the Lady 2015 ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Champion, while Sjinkie Knegt (NED) took the championship title on the men’s side. In the team events, the relay champions for both the ladies and men’s events were Russia.
After spending Friday racing through qualifying rounds in all individual distances, Europe’s best short track speed skaters took the ice today in Drodretch for the Ladies and Men 1500 m and 500 m finals.
