ISU Development Commission - Visiting ISU Coach Initiative
24 Feb 2022
The ISU Development Commission is pleased to announce the fifth year of the Visiting ISU Coach initiative to support Coaches and their education.
The program will offer ISU Members assistance in the form of a Visiting ISU Coach.
The program is aimed at ISU Members which need assistance in evaluating what is required to start a skating program, establishing coaching systems, teaching basic skating skills, ensuring technical improvement, refining their programs, preparing for competitions, etc. for any ISU discipline.
A Visiting ISU Coach will be a highly educated and experienced Coach offering his/her expertise and time to provide expert mentoring, support and assistance. In normal circumstances this will be done during visits to the applicant ISU Member’s country, however, in view of the coronavirus pandemic the support may be provided partly or entirely online. The ISU Development Program will cover the honorarium for the Visiting ISU Coach. When and where international travel becomes possible, the Development Program will also cover these travel expenses, while the ISU Member will need to provide local transport, transfers and accommodation.
The Visiting ISU Coach will initially meet online with the individual ISU Member in order to discuss and assess their needs. Depending on the country and its relevant travel restrictions some or all of the subsequent mentoring, support and assistance may be done virtually/online. If the Covid-19 pandemic situation and travel restrictions for the relevant country allow the Coach may spend between 3 and 10 days in the ISU Member’s country, depending on outcomes of the initial discussions. The structure of follow-up support, including up to two additional visits and intermediate online contact, will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
The deadline for applications to be submitted to the ISU Development Commission is April 1, 2022 for Visiting ISU Coach assistance during the 2020/2021 season.
Please see ISU Communication No. 2459 for more details of the initiative and the application form.
