Pure as Ice 2021 in Tomaszow Mazowiecki & Dordrecht
15 Dec 2021
Tomasczow Mazowiecki: After a tumultuous 2020-21 season, the Pure as Ice campaign was back on the road for the 2021-22 season with the first Outreach held at the World Cup Speed Skating in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland.
The Skaters along with their coaches, team leaders and even some team doctors & physio’s participated in the Pure as Ice Kahoot! Quiz which was held in 9 languages- Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean & Russian. This was a first where all 100% (almost 220 Skaters) contingent stopped by the Pure as Ice booth to compete in the Kahoot Quiz against their fellow teammates and win the shiny Pure as Ice goodies like the Pure as Ice Blade covers. It was also a great moment for the young Skaters to catch up and take a few pictures together at the Pure as Ice Selfie booth pledging to Skate Clean as Pure as Ice!
A big thanks to the Polish Speed Skating Association for all the technical and logistical support provided for us to conduct the Pure as Ice outreach.
Dordrecht: ‘Icy-Hot’ on the heels from the first Pure as Ice Outreach, we headed to the second Pure as Ice Outreach at the World Cup Short Track 4 in Dordrecht, Netherlands.
The last leg of the World Cup Short Track series organized by the KNSB and House of Sport who were great hosts having all proper protocols in place that also included the cumbersome yet necessary daily COVID-19 testing. However, the test that the Skaters did not mind coming for was the ‘Pure as Ice Kahoot!’ Quiz.
The inclusion of several languages served as a great icebreaker for the young Skaters who shed their inhibitions and participate in the Quiz and in turn could learn more about Clean Sport. We also strive to include more languages as we approach future Events. The senior Skaters didn’t need any introduction as they came by confidently with their eyes on the prize- the Pure as Ice blade covers and got down to business taking out their phones and competing against their teammates for the Pure as Ice Kahoot! Quiz.
A big thanks to the KNSB and House of Sport for all the technical and logistical support provided for us to conduct the Pure as Ice outreach.
There were also special goodies for the Team Leaders and Coaches at both Events who motivated their Skaters to participate in the Pure as Ice Quiz and who themselves participated getting the Skaters in total competition mode 2 days even before the competition started! The Skaters who were crowned winners got to strut about with some cool Pure as Ice Blade covers among other goodies!
All in all the Pure as Ice campaign brought Skaters together that stems from the purpose behind Pure as Ice: to unify Skaters in solidarity for Clean Sport, that is the #PUREASICE spirit!!
