Anti-Doping
Pure as Ice 2022 in Tallinn & Gdansk
09 May 2022
Tallinn, Estonia: The Pure as Ice campaign made its 3rd & 5th stop for the 2021-22 season at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships and subsequently at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships both in Tallinn, Estonia.
The Pure as Ice campaign this time included a seminar on ‘Introduction to Anti-Doping’. The prime objective of ISU’s Pure as Ice campaign was to ensure that the Junior Skaters first experience is through ‘Education’ and not ‘Doping Control’. It was good to see not only the Skaters participating in the Seminar but also Team Leaders, Coaches, etc. also joining in and competing in the multi-lingual Pure as Ice Quiz. There were goodies for the winners and also for the Team Leaders with most participation from their Skaters.
A big thanks to the Estonian Skating Union for all the technical and logistical support provided for us to conduct the Pure as Ice outreach.
Gdansk, Poland: ‘Icy-Hot’ on the heels from the Beijing Winter Olympics, we headed to the fourth Pure as Ice Outreach at the ISU World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Gdansk, Poland.
This Event was organized by the Polish Speed Skating Association who were great hosts having all proper protocols in place that also included the cumbersome yet necessary daily COVID-19 testing. However, the test that the Skaters did not mind coming for was the ‘Pure as Ice Kahoot!’ Quiz
The inclusion of several languages served as a great icebreaker for the young Skaters who shed their inhibitions and participate in the Quiz and in turn could learn more about Clean Sport. The young Skaters didn’t need any introduction as they came by confidently with their eyes on the prize- the Pure as Ice blade covers and got down to business taking out their phones and competing against their teammates for the Pure as Ice Kahoot! Quiz.
A big thanks to the Polish Speed Skating Association for all the technical and logistical support provided for us to conduct the Pure as Ice outreach.
All in all the Pure as Ice campaign brought Skaters together that stems from the purpose behind Pure as Ice: to unify Skaters in solidarity for Clean Sport, that is the #PUREASICE spirit!!
